Patrick will be cherished in memory for the radiance in his warm smile, the harmony in his music and his deep love for his children, grandchildren, siblings, and mother. Loving father of Chantal (Joe Thorogood), Stephane and Daniel. Precious Grandpa to Bre, Tom and Amilia. He also leaves behind the mother of his children, Laurette Maurice. Patrick was the child of Adrienne (Chicoine) and the late Léo Gauvreau. Dear brother to Anita Campbell, Denis Gauvreau (Louise), Carol Lapointe (René), Suzanne Miron (Réjean), Robert Gauvreau (Marie) and Angèle Beaudry (Roger). He was known for his kind and generous soul, always willing to lend a helping hand and with a heart that knew no bounds. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, often riding his scooter through town where he would meet people and share his infectious joy for life. Terry Semple

Terry Semple

June 25, 1949 - April 19, 2024

Jun 25, 1949 - Apr 19, 2024

Terry is survived by his much loved wife of 43 years, Jenny Semple (Sobol) and by his immeasurably adored daughter Amy Semple (Mike McKay). He is predeceased by his siblings Ella Mae (Toodie), William (Willy), Mary Ann and Robert as well as his parents James Semple and Mary Keizer. He is survived by his sister-in-law Gloria Semple and brother-in-law Rick Wilkes. He will be missed by nieces and nephews: Amanda, Christopher, Aaron, Trina, Corrina, Billy, Randy and Kelly. Terry lived many different lives, in many parts of Ontario. He especially loved his time bartending at the Franklin Tavern in Kirkland Lake, and for years later, laughed at all the memories made there. This is also where he met Jenny. Terry and Jenny settled in Elk Lake where he worked construction with Poulin, delivered furniture for Paul Anthony Furniture, worked at Ted’s Sales and Service, did MNR duck surveys and worked for the MTO for many years. Terry adopted Elk Lake as his own and was a fixture around town. First at the Elk Lake Lodge Hotel, the Home Café Tavern and then at J & S Variety. He loved meeting new people, giving directions to the best fishing lakes or blueberry patch, cutting grass and chatting with his Elk Lake buddies about all the problems of the world. He could be found with a coffee in hand, grey t-shirt on and laughing often. He loved bringing a truckload of Amy and her friends fishing out at the Cooke Lake culverts, making a big meal for her baseball team on the August long weekend, hosting pizza nights at the house and supporting anything any of the Elk Lake kids were doing. He chaperoned school trips and track trips to Toronto. He bought cases of beer for completed apprenticeship courses and gave monetary gifts for honour roll achievements and graduation. He rarely missed a community event and was instrumental in implementing the morning breakfast program at Elk Lake Public School. He thoroughly enjoyed being out on the ATVs with Jenny and stopping for a bush lunch. They loved spending time fishing the Montreal River and driving numerous bush roads. His adoration and pride in Amy (a.k.a Stringer) knew no limits. She always made time to get back to Elk Lake and they could be found cruising the bush roads, collecting rocks, finding birds, or moving turtles off the road. He was always the first to try out a muddy spot, which led to many adventures! He was more than proud of her numerous achievements, travels and endeavors. He will also be greatly missed by all those members, past and present, of The Lady Dufferin Sportsmen. As per Terry’s strict wishes, there was to be no service of any kind. We hope you can join us in continuing to support the breakfast program by making a cheque donation, in Terry’s memory, to: Elk Lake Public School PO Box 117 Elk Lake, ON P0J 1G0 Reference: Breakfast Program Or E-transfer: amyleesemple@gmail.com who will ensure your donation gets to Elk Lake Public School. “We will meet again on the trails”
