Obituary for Rt. Rev. Michael Fedechko , D.D.

Rt. Rev. Michael Fedechko , D.D.
Fedechko, Michael Rt. Rev. - Fedechko, Michael - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of the Rt Reverend Michael Fedechko of Haileybury on September 06, 2019. Mike passed away peacefully at the Temiskaming Hospital with his loving family by his side.

Michael was born in Myrnam Alberta to Ukranian immigrants and spent his childhood years on the family farm. He enlisted with the Canadian Armed Forces in 1955 and was honorably discharged in 1957. Mike then spent a number of his early working years in a variety of professions including residence counsellor, newspaper publisher/editor, radio host/announcer and hotel/motel manager. In the late 1970’s Michael felt the call to the Ministry which led to his settling with his family in the Temiskaming Shores area in 1980. Mike was a residence/guidance counsellor for many years with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food – New Liskeard College of Agricultural Technology, and at the same time worked tirelessly as the Rector of Trinity Reformed Episcopal Church. One of Michael’s greatest achievements was becoming consecrated as a Bishop with the Reformed Episcopal Church of Canada in 1993, a position he held until 2011. In 2012 he joined the Independent Anglican Church where he served as a Bishop and Minister for the remainder of his life. He was very active in many ministry and multi-faith committees over the years, and was also active with the Haileybury Legion Branch #54 as the Branch Chaplain.

Mike lived a life filled with purpose, dedication, lifelong learning and a drive to accomplish whatever he set his mind too – attributes he regularly encouraged in others. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend – his presence will be sorely missed by many.

Michael is predeceased by his parents Luc Fedechko and Maria Tchir; his wife Christine Fedechko (nee Robinson); his daughter Cathy Fedechko; and by his siblings Tillie Serediak, Helen Matheson, Sylvia Latchuk and Fred Fedechko. Left to mourn his passing are his loving daughters Wendy Fedechko-Conroy (Sean) and Tracy Fedechko-Boulanger (Aaron); grandchildren Hannah (fiancé Nicholas), Mackenzie, Kyle and Blake; his sisters Jean Romaniuk, Catherine Schendel and Stella Hawrelak; and many other nieces, nephews and relatives.

The family of the late Rt Reverend Michael Fedechko will receive family and friends on Saturday September 14, 2019 at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in New Liskeard, Ontario beginning at 10:00am. The funeral service will follow in the Church at 11:00am with Pastor George Paraskevopoulos officiating. Interment will follow the funeral service at the Harley Township cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations in memory of Rt Reverend Michael Fedechko can be made to the Temiskaming Hospital (either the Dialysis Unit or the Palliative Care Suite).
Condolences and contributions may be left at

The Fedechko family wishes to extend our sincere appreciation and gratitude to Dr. Steven Sears, Tony Conti and the Dialysis team, as well as the nursing staff at the Temiskaming Hospital for their utmost professionalism, dedication and care.
