Moerman, George Rene - It is with heavy hearts the family announces the passing of George Rene Moerman at the age of 68 years. After a short illness, Mr Moerman passed away peacefully at Health Sciences North in Sudbury on Saturday April 21, 2018 with his loving family by his side.
George was born June 13, 1949 to the late Rene Moerman and to the late Jeanette Vanderivere in North Bay, Ontario. George grew up at Laronde Creek Lodge, a camp his parents owned. He was a fishing guide for many years. George also worked for Centra Gas as a pipe inspector.
George leaves behind his devoted wife Jean (nee Coe) of Cobalt, his son Brian Moerman of North Bay, his daughter Delina (Patrick) Ferguson of Englehart and his grandchildren Fredrick and Alizabeth. He also leaves behind his uncle Jerome and his aunt Jeannie as well as many cousins in Chatham, ON.
George was a proud member of the Legion Branch 599 in North Bay for many years, he enjoyed playing darts and crib. He also had a passion for fishing and was an avid snowmobiler who loved to try out new trails. George loved family gatherings to show his skills as an awesome BBQ cook. He was also a big Toronto Maple Leafs fan. George will be missed from our lives.
The family of the late George Moerman will welcome friends at the Buffam Leveille Funeral Home [483 Broadway Street Haileybury] Thursday April 26, 2018 from 2:00 - 4:00pm and from 7:00 - 9:00pm and again on Friday April 27 beginning at 9:30am until time for the funeral service in the funeral home at 11:00am. Major Warrick Pilgrim of the Salvation Army officiating. A luncheon will take place at the Cobalt Golden Age Club following the funeral service.
