Wanda MacFarlane (Hunton)
MacFarlane, Wanda Marette [Hunton] - The family announces the death of Mrs Wanda MacFarlane [Hunton] at the age of 91 years. Mrs MacFarlane passed away at Temiskaming Lodge, Monday, October 9, 2017 following a long illness.
She was born in Haileybury on April 30, 1926 to the late John Robert Russell Hunton and the late Agnes Ione Stata. Wanda was educated at Haileybury Public School, North Cobalt Public School and Haileybury High School. In her younger years, she held a woodworking position with Ewing & McGregor and later worked as a nanny in Toronto. She lived most of her life in the Town of North Cobalt and more recently at Temiskaming Lodge. Wanda loved poetry, animals and the work of the SPCA Humane Society. In her spare time she loved to sing, play bingo and make puzzles. She was also known to enjoy politics and taking up a cause such as the movement against the proposed Adams Mine Dump.
Predeceased by her parents; her brother Don Lionel Hunton; and sister-in-law Grace Hunton [Wheeler]. Left to mourn is her son Zane Forrest [Rhoda] MacFarlane of Kingston; grandsons: Derek MacFarlane, Christopher [Ashlie] MacFarlane; great-grandsons: Landon and Austin MacFarlane; nieces: Marsha [Edgar] Blundell, Dona [Fred] Wright; nephews: Jim and Robert Hunton; and special family friend from Perryland Glen Perry.
The MacFarlane family will welcome friends at the Buffam Leveille Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 beginning at 9:30am. Funeral services will follow at the Buffam Leveille Funeral Home at 11:am. Reverend Sherry De Jonge officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to the Ontario SPCA or a charity of your choice will be gratefully acknowledged.
