Obituary for Gilbert Coe
Coe, Gilbert Norman - With heavy hearts the family announces the death of Mr Gilbert Coe of Cobalt at the age of 87 years. Mr Coe passed away peacefully at the Temiskaming Hospital on Monday August 21, 2017 with his loving family at his side.
Mr Coe was born in Haileybury, February 10, 1930 to the late Joseph Coe and to the late Elizabeth Baker. Mr Coe married his late wife Joan [Pascoe] on September 10, 1955. Gilbert very much enjoyed everything life had to offer. Gilbert spent many happy years married to his wife Joan raising their family together. Gilbert and Joan camped at Bass Lake for over 20 years, where they enjoyed hosting many family gatherings, Gilbert loved going fishing with his son, son-in-law and grandson. He had a green thumb in the garden. He loved to grow flowers and vegetables. He enjoyed picking berries, especially blueberries. Gilbert loved to tell stories of the history of Cobalt and share his knowledge of how life was when he was young.
Gilbert worked for Grants in the 1950's as an equipment operator. Then worked with Cloutier's Diamond Drilling Company and various other mining companies doing surface and underground mining during the 1960's and 1970's. He spent some time at the Cobalt Foundry until it burnt. Gilbert then finished out his career at Agnico Eagle where he retired.
Predeceased by his parents; by his wife Joan Coe  and by his sisters Evelyn, Mary and brothers Arthur, Howard, Joseph, Lawrence, Edgar, Percy and Reginald. Mr Coe will be sadly missed by his son Bryan; daughters Jean [George Moerman], Brenda [Ian MacPherson], Patricia [Richard Ridley], Ruth [Micheal Ryan], Susan [Wayne Neddo], Nancy [Marshall Walters], Tiffany [Golden Price], Melissa [Arnold Marriott]. Fondly remembered by twenty-five grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; his sister-in-law Christine Coe and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were his grandchildren Bryan Coe Jr., Delina Ferguson, Mitch Coe, Amanda Ryan, Melissa Coe and Wendell Neddo.

The family of the late Gilbert Coe will receive family and friends at the Buffam Leveille Funeral Home on Thursday August 24, 2017 from 2 -4 and 7- 9pm. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday August 25, 2017 at 11:00am. Memorial contributions may be made to Sick Kids Hospital or to the Community Cancer Care.
