Bogart Leslie
Leslie, Bogart Norman - In loving memory of Bogart Norman Leslie who passed away peacefully at the Temiskaming Lodge on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at the age of 106.

Bogart was born in Haileybury, Ontario on November 26, 1910 - the eldest child of Frank and Mary Angeline (Symon) Leslie.

He graduated from the Haileybury School of Mines in 1931 and began his career as an assayer at the Lakeshore Mine in Kirkland Lake and later the Young-Davidson Mine in Matachewan. Bogart returned to Haileybury in 1948 and built his home on Browning Street in 1952 where he resided until January 27, 2017. Many will remember Bogart for the wild orchids (lady slippers) he delivered around town every spring, the Highland Cattle he imported from Scotland in 1960 and raised on the West Road. He will also be remembered as a house painter, prospector, trapper, a volunteer at the Haileybury Heritage Museum and a survivor of the great fire of 1922.

Bogart was predeceased by his parents, his brother C.A. “Clement” Leslie, his sister Helen (Dr. Henry) Bateman, his brother Donald, his niece Beth and nephew Bryan. He is survived by his nieces Marilyn McQuarrie, Karen Hess, Cindy Stephens, Cora Brittan and nephews John Bateman and Franklin Leslie as well as his cousins Marion Leslie, Velma Hendry, Grace MacPherson and by his sister-in-law Marsha Leslie. He is also survived and will be greatly missed by special friends Patricia Wilson, Peter & Lou Fancy, Therese Dower, Henry Veley and Chris Oslund.

Visitations for the late Bogart Leslie will be held at the Buffam Leveille Funeral Home on Monday, May 22, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. and on Tuesday May 23, 2017 beginning at 10:00am.
